The official curriculum for training as a forwarding merchant in Germany is regulated by the Ordinance on Vocational Training as a Forwarding and Logistics Services Merchant. This framework defines the learning content as well as the duration and structure of the training.
According to the ordinance, the training covers a total of three years, during which the trainees are taught, among other things, knowledge in the areas of order acceptance, processing and follow-up, commercial management and control, as well as goods receipt, storage and dispatch. In addition, subjects such as the execution of international transports, the planning of logistics processes and the handling of customs and insurance issues are also part of the training.
The exact curriculum can be obtained from the relevant vocational school or chamber of industry and commerce and may vary depending on the federal state and training company.
